Xander Marro

Xander Marro is an artist, underground puppet maker, and arts non-profit director who is known for being a member of the feminist art collective, the Dirt Palace. With that company, she makes movies, puppet shows, prints, and phone calls, which shows that she is also a puppeteer as well. Xander also curated the long-running Movies with Live Soundtracks series and toured with Bird Songs of the Bauharoque, a two-woman puppet operetta. For the latter, Marro had two alter-egos known as Lady Longarms and Madame von Temper Tantrum as well as an alter ego of the Lavender Diamond singer Becky Stark. Some of the puppets she made can be seen in productions like Fine Dishes, Pick a Winner, The Journey, and My Pal Foot, to name a few. In addition to puppets, she also does drawings, quilts, collages, and prints/posters, the latter of which has been archived online. It's a shame though that Xander Marro never contributed to any productions by either the Muppets or the Henson Company, she probably never even heard of either. She would've been perfect to perform or design for Henson Alternative since they've done lots of adult content with puppetry in it. According to Wikipedia, she also works as the Managing Director of Providence Not-for-Profit arts organization AS220 in her spare time. At least Xander contributes to not only entertainment but for arts programs as well for all ages. Marro should continue to work at the Dirt Palace and AS220 as well since both areas are in Rhode Island, where she lives, not to mention what she's known for. Until the day comes when she'll meet a Muppet performer, I'd say she should continue to make and perform puppets as well as make works of art and quilts. Even if she's not a Muppet puppeteer, she's considered a puppeteer anyway here. Xander Marro, you've really impressed everyone with your work at both the Dirt Palace and AS220. Keep up the super duper works of art as well as making puppet shows, movies, and prints for people of all ages to look at with great admiration. You may not have done a Muppet/Henson project, but I think you would've made a terrific performer or designer with either one. Out of sight Xander. You are a real artiste Marro!
