Andrew G. Cooper

Andrew G. Cooper is a Canadian puppeteer and filmmaker who served as one of the additional performers on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock and is also another non-binary puppeteer. They usually assisted and/or doubled for the main performers' characters on the whole series, including the holiday specials. Another project Andrew puppeteered on is a short called Windchasers, as well as writing, producing, and directing that short. Cooper worked with several other performers on both projects such as Ellis Lalonde, Geneviève Paré, Ali DeRegt, and Anna Cummer. Who knew there would be lots of puppeteers that are non-binary no one knows about until looking up the puppeteer's bio online? Other projects they made include Star Bars: A Brew Hope, Under the Plaza, (exp)lore, and The Robber Bridegroom, to name a few. Andrew G. Cooper also creates theatrical productions across Canada like Frankenstein, The Time Machinist, Starslingers, and The Untold Tales of the Brothers Grimm, to name a few. With all of the work they did over the years, it's no wonder they got selected to be a part of Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. That series must be the only Henson Company project to feature non-binary puppeteers as no Muppet, Henson, or even Sesame Street production ever dealt with people being non-binary. But who knows, maybe Andrew will influence others to encourage companies like Sesame Workshop to create puppet characters that are non-binary. You never know when Cooper will get interviewed where they'll share their work. And with all of the theatrical work and filmmaking they did throughout their career, they are sure to get famous or well recognized. Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock will always be their #1 puppetry series. Andrew G. Cooper, you've impressed the entire country with your work over the years, and you still are with Fraggle Rock. Keep on puppeteering and making both short films and theatrical productions to be an inspiration to other Canadian puppeteers. I'm sure that all the non-binary puppeteers on Fraggle Rock like you will inspire more characters to be identified as non-binary. Until then, keep being awesome Andrew. You're Canada's artistic master Cooper!
