Dave Privett

Dave Privett is a puppeteer, puppet designer/builder, writer, and set designer who is best known for his work on the Baby Einstein video series. He is also the founder of the puppet company PlaySoup alongside his wife June Privett. In addition to Baby Einstein, Dave was also a puppeteer and builder at Animax Designs, mostly performing on the Trollies video series and playing Snowbird the Penguin. Privett also worked with a few Henson people at Animax such as Jeff Conover, Eddie May, and Chuck Fawcett, as well as Kim Snodgrass and Steve Pennington too. He may not have done any Henson or Sesame Street projects, but he still worked on videos suitable for babies and children. Upon turning over PlaySoup to the new owners, Kristofer and Amanda Sommerfeld, he now works for DMPCreative and sold his puppet creations online. Other non-Baby Einstein production Dave Privett and his wife did was the Christian video series Baby Faith and the sign-language video series Baby Signs, two series made for babies. He'd designed, built, and performed many puppets over the years and that's something for him to be proud of as babies can be hard to entertain. I certainly hope his puppet creations are popular among the people who bought them and use them on their own personal productions. But no matter what Dave does now, he'll always be known to parents as the puppeteer who brought Baby Einstein to life, following Markie Schloz of course. Privett really became a role-model for babies everywhere during the time Baby Einstein was around, and even though it's over, he's still considered wonderful by me. In addition to puppetry, he also wrote a production involving emotional abuse to prevent child abuse called Believe in Yourself. Now that is something everyone should know about, how to prevent child abuse in the world. Dave Privett, not only did you entertain babies, but you've also made a difference by making a video involving child abuse. Keep up working with puppets and have pride in yourself for your work on the many video series for babies. You're probably the first puppeteer to ever make a video involving the prevention of child abuse, as it's a common issue that should be dealt with. Excellent life changing projects Dave. You're definitely a role-model to babies Privett!
