Doug Kincaid

Doug Kincaid is a performer, writer, and artist best known for working with both puppetry and mascot costumes throughout his career. In 1977 at age 15, he co-founded The Kincaid Karacter Company with his brother William Kincaid, which eventually became one of the greatest known national producers of mascot costumes. It's amazing that Doug managed to form a company when he was only a teenager, a company that later developed and manufactured iconic mascots in America. From 1978-1981, Kincaid and his brother worked at Six Flags Theme Park in Missouri, playing costumed characters, performing in the puppet theater, and creating sets/characters for the haunted attractions and commercials. The two brothers were also a team on television within two children shows, D.B.'s Delight and Gator Tales, even though William left the company to pursue other careers in 1989. It's too bad he never met one Muppet performer in his career, but he was probably busy. In the summer of 1993, Doug Kincaid was a featured puppeteer on a show called Ranger Bob's Buckaroo Club, which is probably considered lost media at the moment. The Kincaid Karacter Company is probably his biggest achievement throughout his career as many mascots came from there like Fredbird, Billiken, Elroy Elk, Homer, and more. One or two of his role models included producers Sid & Marty Krofft, though he probably never heard of Jim Henson in his life, and even if he did, he probably wouldn't be able to meet Henson. Doug is still designing and creating mascots, puppets, sets, props, displays, and touring shows for organizations and applications today. Kincaid also continues to do year-round touring and performing as a professional puppeteer. He is also active in developing The Kincaid Character Studios, a multifaceted production services company located in Georgia. That's incredible if you ask me. Doug Kincaid, since your teenage years you've been doing wonderful at entertaining people of all ages whether it's promoting or performing. Keep working because you've brought so many mascots to life in the sports industry and other business venues. And don't forget what a pleasure it was working with your brother. Nice Doug. You're a pro Kincaid!
