Galia Yishai

Galia Yishai was an Israeli actress and singer known for performing on stage, film, and television from 1971-2020. In 1986, she appeared as herself within the Israeli co-production of Sesame Street, Rechov Sumsum, where she interacted with Sarai Tzuriel and Gilles Ben-David. Wikipedia states that Galia was also a puppeteer, but it remains unknown what shows she puppeteered on. Yishai mostly acted on-stage within Israel's repertoire theatres such as Habima Theatre, the Bimot Theatre, the Cameri Theater, Haifa Theatre, and Bein Lessin Theater. She must have puppeteered in one of those theaters, you never know based on the types of roles she received in the shows. Some of the plays she did include Peer Gynt, All My Sons, Puss in Boots, Quo Vadis, and more. Galia Yishai also acted on television and film like Am Yisrael Hai, Parpar Nechmad, Hunting Elephants, Life is Not Everything, and many others. It's a shame she never puppeteered on that international co-production of Sesame Street, for it would prove to those who disagree about her being a puppeteer wrong. Unfortunately, it's too late for her to give puppetry a shot now, for in 2020, she died. Galia's last two projects before her death were Morobot (as Ilana) and The Great Special Thing, both were taped a year prior to her death. I certainly hope someday Yishai's page on Wikipedia will be updated with info on what shows she puppeteered on. At least she performed on both stage and screen in Israel and across the world as well like in France, Switzerland, and even the United States. And another thing, even though she didn't puppeteer on Rechov Sumsum, at least she got to technically perform on an international co-production of Sesame Street as her own self. Galia Yishai, you've done wonderful in the world of Hebrew entertainment. I still wish you would've had a puppetry credit on your Wikipedia page so nobody will jump to conclusions about that. You may be gone, but the people of Israel will never forget you. Goodbye Galia. We will always remember you Yishai!
