Richard Jones

Richard Jones was a British dwarf actor, suit performer, and artist who was known for performing in a lot of special effects films. With the Creature Shop, he served as a cable control operator on Dreamchild and did one of the goblin corps on Labyrinth, the latter working with iconic legends. Richard mainly did science and painting as his background while occasionally doing film and television, usually as an extra or a suit performer. Jones' most notable projects include Flash Gordon, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (as an Ewok), Willow, and the Welsh TV series Teliffant. Still, he got to perform with other puppeteers and suit performers who performed on Creature Shop productions like Tessa Crockett, Warwick Davis, Ron Mueck, Mike Quinn, and many others. It's a shame there isn't a lot of information about him on Muppet Wiki for he only did two Creature Shop films, but there's more info about him on IMDb. Of course, that website isn't always accurate with bios of performers like Richard Jones, although there is trivia about this man. He's probably unlucky as he's suffered many injuries and a genetic condition, yet he managed to make it through all of those films he appeared in. Perhaps there are other performers like him who've had terrible conditions in their lives but somehow managed to get through them during their time either on or off camera. Sadly, in November 2009, Richard died from complications from a genetic disorder, according to his obituary on the Telegraph website. At least Jones lived a good life and a wonderful job as both an artist and an actor, not to mention scientist and son of a ship's engineer. He also got to work with legends during his film career such as David Bowie, Jim Henson, and Frank Oz, to name a few. If there's someone who watches a special effects film, hopefully they'll see one involving this performer, you never know if that will happen. Richard Jones, you were a swell dwarf actor and artist during your time alive. Even though you've had some personal complications in yourself, you managed to make it through the films and television shows you worked on. Some people may not know who you are, but I know you'll be recognized by others who do. Rest in peace Richard. You were an artiste Jones!
