Melissa King

Melissa King is an Australian puppeteer, actress, voice actress, and director who guest puppeteered on Farscape alongside other Australian puppeteers. She is known for performing with various theatres over the years in her career like Riverina Theatre Co, Belvoir St. Joining Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Blue Cow Theatre, and lots more. Melissa did more than a dozen shows both nationally and internationally which got her nominated in the best actor category for her role in The Riddle of Washpool Gully. King also got to puppeteer with kid band The Wiggles in The Wiggles Movie and series one, alongside others such as Edward Rooke, Gavin Sainsbury, Sheryl Talmage, and Larissa Deak. Her on-screen acting credits have included Deadloch, The Gloaming, Fallen Angels, and Rose Haven, to name a few. It's a shame she only did one production with the Henson Company because they hardly do a lot of productions in Australia, but Muppet performers have visited Australia lots of times for appearances. Since 2016, Melissa King has been directing productions such as Blue Cow's Pedaling Black, Loud Mouth's The Bull, The Moon, and The Coronet of Stars, and TTC's An Inconvenient Woman. This woman would be perfect for another Australian production by the Henson Company, maybe she was an uncredited performer on Bambaloo like other Australian puppeteers. She must have felt excited to meet the original Wiggles back in 1997 when she puppeteered in their only feature film. Melissa is still around today as she directed Jingled for Hobart Rep in 2023 and won an award for best performer the following year. King probably felt thrilled to work under the direction on Brian Henson on Farscape. After all he is the son of the legendary creator of the Muppets. Hopefully she'll continue to perform in various theatrical productions within numerous theatres because acting and puppetry are her talents. Melissa King, you're a marvelous actress as well as a great puppeteer since you got to do the latter with legends. Keep on acting, performing, and directing so everyone will admire your skills. And I'm sure you'll have another chance to puppeteer with Henson again, whenever that is. You were definitely born to be a star, Melissa. Wonderful work King!
