Micheline Legendre

Micheline Legendre was a Canadian puppeteer and violinist who was best known for performing on television and stage with her troupe called Les marionettes de Montreal. Her company created 1,170 puppets and did more than 16,000 performances for millions of audience members, that's impressive if you ask me. In addition to puppetry, Micheline also played violin with both the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic, for many networks and such. Legendre performed several different productions with her company such as live adaptations of The Nightingale, The Adventures of Tintin, Peter and the Wolf, and Comment Wang-Fô fut Sauvé, most of which involved the music from the symphony orchestras. It's wonderful how one puppeteer can work with marionettes and provide a little violin music within an orchestra as well. She was also a frequent performer on the Radio-Canada, doing more than 400 television shows, though it's unknown what shows she did. Micheline Legendre has been honored for her work over the years in her career, like in 1991, she was named a Knight of the National Order of Quebec and was named an officer of the Order of Canada in 1998. Her marionettes also hit the road across Canada, and who knows maybe parts of the world. Sadly, Micheline's life came to an end for she died at her home in January 2010, but fortunately her puppets went on display in some museum or something. It's a shame Legendre never met a Muppet performer in her life or at least one puppeteer who did work with a Muppet performer. But nevertheless, she entertained millions of people with her numerous puppets and performances across Canada. Fans probably still remember her work to this very day and learning about her work too. Micheline Legendre, you were a master at puppetry and real peachy at being a violinist in some symphony orchestras. It's not every day you find a puppeteer who's both musical and artistic. Keep watching everything from above because people still love you, even if you're gone. Rest in peace Micheline. You've left behind a wonderful legacy Legendre!
