Walid Badr

Walid Badr is an Egyptian puppeteer who performs the full-bodied Nimnim on Alam Simsim, an Egypt co-production of Sesame Street. He has been doing the character since 1999, after spending 10 days on the US set and several weeks of training with Martin P. Robinson. Walid was paired with Dina Al-Saleh and Wael Awad as the characters they did were the only Muppets on the production. Badr appeared out of his costume during a 2015 appearance on the show Sahibet Al-Saada, which is so far the only known appearance of the puppeteers of Alam Simsim. Outside, he founded Wel Ya Wel Puppets in 2004 and is also a member of the World Association of Puppeteers. But it's a shame that this information was only found recently, there could've been more interesting history about this performer's career. Walid Badr is probably working with other international puppeteers at the World Association of Puppeteers, but it is unknown which performers are also members, at the moment. There should've been a lot more Muppet characters on Alam Simsim, then he would've had the chance to meet more Egyptian puppeteers, but the producers probably were on low budget. Even though he only had three co-performers to work with on the show, he still does a wonderful as Nimnim. Walid should know that Sesame Street is always going to expand across the world, even in countries that aren't doing so well. Badr also does terrific at Wel Ya Wel Puppets, but the productions made by that company are currently unknown to the world. I'm sure at some point in the future, he'll be recognized by more people, especially now that he has his own page on the Muppet Wiki. After all, people who look on that wiki learns something about Muppets they never knew about before, that's what makes it so special. Walid Badr, despite having a short bio, you are doing wonderful as Nimnim on Alam Simsim. Keep on performing on that show and at Wel Ya Wel Puppets so you'll be well known to the public again like you should be. You're one of those lucky three Egyptian puppeteers who make a difference. Continue being cool with puppets Walid. You're a natural Badr!
