Thomas Roos

Thomas Roos is a Danish puppeteer who performs Elmo on the Danish co-production of Sesame Street, Sesamgade, which premiered in 2009. He auditioned for the role in July 2009 and was trained by Kevin Clash himself in Copenhagen. Thomas was paired with Peter Norgaard and Martin Sælan who served as his assistants, while the latter performed moving letters for select episodes. Roos must have felt thrilled to be trained by the legendary performer of Sesame Street's Elmo, Clash was a puppet captain. Outside of doing Elmo on Sesamgade, he puppeteered on Radio Karen, the Crank Yankers inspired show, and he performed Øvst on Ramajetterne on DR (Danish Radio). It's a shame Sesamgade only had Elmo on the series, there's always room for a bunch of performers with their own Muppet characters. Thomas Roos still got to do so much more outside of the show as seen on his website. He performed for people of all ages but his page on Muppet Wiki should be updated so everyone who isn't Danish will be able to know what other characters on select productions he did. At least he stood out as Elmo while on Sesamgade, not that it's a bad thing, which it isn't. But a great puppeteer like Thomas deserves more on a Danish co-production of Sesame Street, like more characters for example. But it's up to the producers to decide the role Roos does. Let's hope that someday they'll be another Danish co-production of Sesame Street, and he'll get called back to not only reprise Elmo but also do more characters. You never know if or when it will happen to a great performer like him. Thomas Roos, you're a fantastic puppeteer and you've done swell as the international Elmo on Sesamgade. If you're still doing outside projects, keep puppeteering on them so you'll be well known. I'm sure Kevin Clash is very proud of you for bringing Elmo to life in Denmark. Until then, keep your chin up and your head high Thomas. You totally got this Roos!
