Alva Rogers
Alva Rogers is an actress, puppeteer, playwright, composer, and vocalist who is known for using dolls and puppetry in interdisciplinary work. Her two well-known films she acted on were School Daze and Daughters of the Dust, both films involved prejudice. For puppetry, Alva has collaborated with Heather Henson of the Jim Henson Foundation on creating three musicals including Sunday, nightbathing, and mermaid, the former performed Off-Broadway at the Public Theater. In addition to acting and puppetry, Rogers was a vocalist with an alternative rock group called Band of Susans during the late 1980s. She is probably the first (and maybe only) puppeteer to ever perform with a rock group. As for her playwright work, she wrote The Bride Who Became Frightened When She Saw Life Open, Scooping the Darkness Empty, and The Doll Plays. For one woman, Alva Rogers seems to do have so many occupations over the years of her career from actress to vocalist to playwright. Other puppeteers who are playwrights like her are Leila Ghaznavi and Jani Lauzon while other vocalists include Tanya Haden and Nozizwe Zulu and maybe others. She must have felt excited to work with the daughter of the legendary creator of the Muppets. Alva must be proud to do so much in her career and work with Heather Henson. Rogers still works today as seen on her Wikipedia page, though I wish she would do a Muppet or Henson project at some point in the future. Then she would be able to have her own page made on the Muppet Wiki. You never know when someone like her will meet more Muppet puppeteers. Alva Rogers, you are wonderful at performing, singing, writing, and now educating in the arts. Keep on working and remember all of the great things you've done in the past. I'm sure that in the future, you'll see Heather Henson again and she'll recommend you do a future Henson project. Just keep your hopes up Alva. Rock on Rogers!
