Martin Bridle

Image
Martin Bridle is a British puppeteer who was an additional performer on Labyrinth for approximately seven weeks. He did background goblins, did the shaft of hands sequence, and operated an ear on Sir Didymus while Dave Goelz was the main guy. I don't know why Martin didn't perform on any other Creature Shop productions besides that. At least Bridle got to work under Jim Henson's direction as well as work with Frank Oz, Brian Henson, and Ron Mueck. Outside of the film, he is the co-founder and performer of Hand to Mouth Theatre, along with puppeteer Su Eaton. The two of them have been entertaining audiences with their puppet performances at theatres, festivals, and schools all around the world for over 40 years. In addition to that, Martin Bridle is also a Punch and Judy performer as stated on The Punch and Judy College of Professors website. After 2022, he and his partner started to wind down their schedule and since the following year, they are offering The Box of Mechanic...

Leo Petersen

Image
Leo Petersen, also called "Lejo", is a Dutch puppeteer who makes his own segments for Sesamstraat, the Dutch co-production of Sesame Street. He does his non-verbal shorts by using his bare hands and wooden eyes for puppets and his shorts have often been seen on the show starting in 2003. Leo's main character on Sesamstraat is a "finger puppet" known as Mano. Petersen's characters are similar to the puppets shown and performed on Oobi, each character is a bare hand with wooden eyes (with a couple exceptions). He must have had some practice when it came to being Mano since the character looks and works differently then the Oobi-style puppets were. He also appeared in the Sesamstraat special Open Huis in Sesamstraat, which featured the main puppeteers such as Renee Menschaar, Judith Broersen, Catherine van Woerden, and Bert Plagman. In addition to those performers, Leo Petersen got to meet Kevin Clash who provided the puppetry of Elmo for that special. He must ...

Helen King

Image
Helen King is a British-born Canadian actress, voice actress, puppeteer, and singer who is best known for lending her voice to various animated series. Her only known puppetry role was on a show called Me Too, as the cotton ball-like Fluffy. Otherwise, Helen has mostly voice acted on many Canadian kid shows like Potatoes and Dragons, Jacques Cousteau's Ocean Tales, Ranger Rob, and Dot., to name a few. The latter show King did was made by the Henson Company though it was one of their animated productions than puppet ones. Some of the other animated shows she did were one-time like Arthur, Totally Spies!, Mona the Vampire, Caillou, and more. She should have done some other productions featuring puppetry because doing more will help her get better at it. Helen King has met one voice actor who also puppeteers and that's James Rankin who did some Henson Company projects. In addition to television, she also acted in some films and lent her voice to the video game Prince of Persia: Th...

Sue Eves

Image
Sue Eves is a British puppeteer who is known for performing Tamba on Tikkabilla before the character was taken over by Alison McGowan. She also puppeteered on MacDonald's Farm and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, though she was uncredited for the latter. It would appear that Sue did more children series than she did adult series. Even though Eves didn't perform with the Muppets or Henson Company, she has worked with Muppet performers in some of her projects. Performers like Damian Farrell, Mandy Travis, Lesa Gillespie, and Michael Bayliss. I saw online that in 2009, she performed a puppet character named Woofy at a conference in Winchester, which could mean something. If Sue Eves performed the dog for that appearance, than she must have did the role at other appearances, you never know. Above all, she still didn't do a single Muppet or Henson production, though Tamba appeared to be a Muppet-type puppet. Let's hope that someday she'll get to assist the main Muppet pe...

Pat Garrett

Image
Pat Garrett is a British director, choreographer, puppeteer, and actress whose done Muppet and Creature Shop productions, choreographing dances and other movements. For the Muppets, she did The Muppets Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island, puppeteering on the former. As for the Creature Shop, Pat choreographed both Alice in Wonderland and Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story. Garrett seemed to be experienced with having to choreograph films featuring puppets. Her other puppetry-related credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Frank Oz film) and Santa Claus: The Movie, choreographing for both of them. Other choreography credits put her in My Uncle Silas, Judge John Deed, Photographing Fairies, and many other TV productions. Other than choreography, Pat Garrett has acted and/or directed several shorts such as Just One More Bite, Home for Christmas, Rubbish, David, and more. Her bio on IMDb also states that she acts in several theatre shows, played lead roles in numerous films, and...

John Alexander

Image
John Alexander is an actor, puppeteer, and gorilla performer who has done three Creature Shop-effects films. He puppeteered on The Flintstones (film), provided choreography for the gorillas in George of the Jungle, and did the body of Big Al in The Country Bears. John also appears to be another one of those puppeteers to also wear gorilla suits for many projects, others include Peter Elliott, Misty Rosas, and Denise Cheshire. Some of Alexander's simian credits include Planet of the Apes, Fierce Creatures, Baby's Day Out, and many more. As for puppetry, he puppeteered in High Spirits, Return to Oz, and Little Shop of Horrors, all of which were films. His profile on IMDb states that in addition to puppetry and gorilla performing, he also does acrobatics, horse riding, and unicycling, all impressive. Let's not forget some of the films John Alexander acted on, such as two Men in Black films, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Haunted Mansion. He seems to be more well known...
