Martin Bridle

Martin Bridle is a British puppeteer who was an additional performer on Labyrinth for approximately seven weeks. He did background goblins, did the shaft of hands sequence, and operated an ear on Sir Didymus while Dave Goelz was the main guy. I don't know why Martin didn't perform on any other Creature Shop productions besides that. At least Bridle got to work under Jim Henson's direction as well as work with Frank Oz, Brian Henson, and Ron Mueck. Outside of the film, he is the co-founder and performer of Hand to Mouth Theatre, along with puppeteer Su Eaton. The two of them have been entertaining audiences with their puppet performances at theatres, festivals, and schools all around the world for over 40 years. In addition to that, Martin Bridle is also a Punch and Judy performer as stated on The Punch and Judy College of Professors website. After 2022, he and his partner started to wind down their schedule and since the following year, they are offering The Box of Mechanical Delights for outdoor events and indoor cabaret slots. Mechanical Delights is one of their shows while the other one is Piggery Jokery, which they did one show for the animators of Pixar. It's a shame that Martin would step down from performing for schools and theatres after doing so for over 40 years. I personally think Bridle should have done more Creature Shop productions such as Dreamchild or The Witches. But if he's satisfied with doing Hand to Mouth Theatre with his partner than that's something he should stick with. At least he met several Muppet performers when doing Labyrinth, besides the ones mentioned above, like David Barclay, Shari Weiser, and Steve Whitmire. Martin Bridle, you've put a lot of effort for Labyrinth and you're still doing wonderful at Hand to Mouth Theatre. Keep on working with your partner until you both stop completely. And it's not everyday that puppeteers would entertain some folks at a famous animation studio. You have certainly said a "mouth-full" Martin. Great work Bridle!
