Ghazal Javed

Ghazal Javed is an Indian puppeteer, producer, and director who is best known for performing Chamki on the Indian co-production of Sesame Street, Gali Gali Sim Sim. I've read that she has been working in the field of puppetry since 2006 with the show being her very first television role. Ghazal was awarded for her work as Chamki in some episodes. Javed is also a trained Odissi dancer and an assistant director in Mumbai. But performing Chamki was perhaps her big break into television and is still operating her today. Her character has guest starred for two episodes on Sesame Street during the 48th season. How did Ghazal Javed learned to speak English when she performed Chamki on Sesame Street? Maybe she went to class once arriving in New York or received lessons from Martin P. Robinson when he gave her puppetry training. Outside of Gali Gali Sim Sim, Ghazal co-produced and directed Funda Matlab Piddu Bola for TV Today Network. That was probably the only project Javed served as a director, at least for now. I wonder if she's ever shown off her dancing talents on stage or television since she is trained. It's something that I think everyone throughout India should know. In 2016, Ghazal was a guest speaker at the Women Deliver conference, where she also performed Chamki. Chamki would never be the same without her if she ever decides to retire. Ghazal Javed, you are an amazing Indian performer and though everyone knows you can puppeteer, not everyone knows that you can dance. Keep on puppeteering and maybe someday show the world your Odissi dance moves and who knows, maybe you'll be teaching a lot of people one day. Until then, continue being Chamki and you'll be remembered. Splendid Javed!
