Mary Brehmer

Mary Brehmer is a puppet and costume designer/builder who has joined the Jim Henson Company in 1992. She designed and built Muppets for various works like The Muppets Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, and Muppets Tonight. Mary was also an additional puppeteer for that show. She has also built costumes for various international Sesame Street co-productions. Brehmer could have also remained a puppeteer for the Muppets but whatever she does is her choice not theirs. She has also did a few Henson Company projects such as The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, Julie's Greenroom and Bear in the Big Blue House. Two out of those three shows has given her 3 Emmy Award nominations for her work. I don't know why Brehmer hasn't done a lot of seasons on Sesame Street. It says Mary she has only designed and built puppets for the 46th season of Sesame Street. Maybe when Brehmer has a chance, she could ask Sesame Workshop if she can maybe design and build puppets for future seasons of Sesame Street. Outside of the Muppets and Henson, she has created costumes on Saturday Night Live and ice show versions of Pixar's Monster Inc and Finding Nemo. Mary also designed and built puppets for Magic Tree House: the Musical, The Book of Pooh, and PBS Kid's Sprout's the Let's Go Show. I wish she would try puppeteering again in her life because she could be good at something that she never knew she was good at. Her latest Muppet work was being a puppet specialist for The Muppets (2015) and Muppets Most Wanted. That sounds like a big promotion from being a designer and builder to puppet specialist. Mary Brehmer must be the luckiest puppet and costume builder to do Pixar ice shows, as Pixar has only done animation films. I hope that maybe soon they'll be other Pixar ice shows and maybe she'll tell someone from the Muppet Workshop to make the costumes. Maybe someday that will happen. Mary Brehmer, you've done an excellent job with designing and building puppets and costumes. I hope you keep working with the Muppets and maybe someday volunteer to be an additional puppeteer for a project. You never know what could happen to you Mary Brehmer!
