Colin Purves is a British puppeteer who was one of the three people in London selected from a 1994 Muppeteer Workshop to join the Jim Henson Company. He assisted and has performed background characters on Muppet Treasure Island. Years later, Colin returned to serve as an additional puppeteer on Muppets Most Wanted. I don't know why he didn't perform with the Muppets in between those 2 films he both assisted and played background characters. Purves not only was an assistant puppeteer on the British Sesame Street co-production The Furchester Hotel, but he also played occasional guest characters. If he performed guest characters on that show, then why doesn't he receive the credit of a Muppet performer? It's probably because he hasn't performed a character for the Muppets. As for his Creature Shop work, Colin Purves worked in a Flymo commercial and more recently, as an additional puppeteer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Colin got to work alongside a lot of the greatest performers for the Muppets and Furchester Hotel like Louise Gold, Steve Whitmire, and Dave Goelz, to name a few. Outside of the Creature Shop, Furchester Hotel, and the Muppets, Purves has worked on Spitting Image - New Year's Eve Special, Our House, Squeak! and Captain Abercomby. His film work was mainly a creature and droid puppeteer for Star Wars: Episodes 7, 8, and 9. In The Last Jedi he also assisted Frank Oz in puppeteering Yoda. It shows that Colin has even worked alongside the legendary Frank Oz. I wonder how he felt when he got to assist Oz on his character Yoda. He would have been excited to have assisted a legendary puppeteer, like he already does. It's a pity that Purves didn't perform a character with the Muppets. Then he could have received the credit of a true Muppet performer like the others. I sure hope that when this pandemic ends, that Colin would keep working with puppets. Colin Purves, you are a genius at assisting and not bad at voicing a character that you operated, as seen in The Furchester Hotel. I want you to keep puppeteering and maybe someday, you will become a Muppet performer like the people you've worked with. Keep dreaming Colin Purves!
