Dave Chapman
Dave Chapman is a British puppeteer and actor who has assisted the Muppets on Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets Most Wanted, and an appearance on The X Factor. Why hasn't he ever performed any characters for the Muppets? Dave seemed to be an expert puppeteer, so he should have the chance to perform a character but it's just a thought. However, Chapman played Dougie Colon, Eddie Watts, and others on the Henson Company show, That Puppet Game Show. He also joined Brian Henson for his "Evolution of Puppetry" lectures in 2013 and also guested on Puppet Up. His latest Henson Company project was on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, puppeteering various characters and serving as the 1st assistant puppet captain. Outside of Henson and the Muppets, Dave Chapman has performed several puppet characters for British TV, such as BBC presenters Otis the Aardvark and Vinnie the Ferret. He also worked on Tiny and Mr. Duk (as Tiny), Nuzzle and Scratch (as Nuzzle), Space Pirates and doubled for Victor Yerrid on Pajanimals (though he was uncredited). For film, he mostly worked with Brian Herring as the on-set puppeteers for BB-8 in the Star Wars films. I read that Dave has been trained to puppeteer by Kevin Clash, Nigel Plaskitt, and Rob Tygner at the Jim Henson Company's puppeteer workshop in 1994. All of that training paid off, because Chapman is a pro at puppetry now. His latest puppetry credits include Spitting Image (revival), Jurassic World Domination, and Saturday Mash-Up, to name a few. This shows that he is still puppeteering today and will probably continue doing so for the near future, at least until he retires. Dave Chapman, you're an excellent puppeteer and you've done so well with the Henson Company and Muppets. I think Otis the Aardvark is your best known character overall. Keep on puppeteering until you want to stop. Excellent Dave. Peace out Chapman!
