Brian Henson

Brian Henson is a puppeteer, filmmaker, and the chairman of The Jim Henson Company, as well as the son of Jim and Jane Henson. For several years, he worked on almost every Muppet and Henson project before and since his father passed away. Brian's major Muppet characters included Sal Minella, Dr. Phil van Neuter, and Seymour, and also did Scooter and Janice in 2002-2003. As a child, Henson made on-screen cameo appearances on Sesame Street, mostly in segments. When he got older, he became more involved working with his father. As a teenager, he did a lot with the Muppets, such as building the first Muppet penguin and assisting the main performers within The Great Muppet Caper and The Muppets Take Manhattan. The biggest breakthrough Brian Henson did was performing with the Creature Shop starting in the 1980's, doing Labyrinth, The Storyteller, Dinosaurs, and many more. Soon he became an heir to The Jim Henson Company, for I've read that when his father died, he and his siblings took over the company. Since then, not only has he performed on Muppet television shows and feature films, but he has also become an expert producer and director for them until 2005. For Brian has produced and/or directed several projects made by The Jim Henson Company, not to mention Henson Alternative (like The Happytime Murders). I've read Henson referred to Bill Barretta as his "performing partner" when he worked with him on Henson Alternative. In 2021, he reprised his role as Sal Minella within Muppets Haunted Mansion, his first Muppet performing project since 2005. This shows he's still in touch with the Muppet performers since they were sold to Disney. Brian Henson, you made your parents proud by keeping your family company alive with Lisa Henson, Cheryl Henson, and Heather Henson. Keep on doing puppetry and filmmaking and you'll be like your father. I'm sure he's still watching you run the the company from heaven. Well done Brian. You're a real hip dude Henson!
