Dave Goelz

Dave Goelz is a puppeteer and puppet builder who was one of the main Muppet performers for over 50 years. He is best known for performing many characters like Gonzo, Zoot, Beauregard, and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew for the Muppets. Dave is also known for performing Boober Fraggle and Uncle Travelling Matt for Fraggle Rock. Goelz started out performing and building Muppets in their productions, before deciding to just puppeteer. He has also worked on Sesame Street during its 24th season and in their 2nd feature film, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. His other Henson Company shows include The Secret Life of Toys, The Animal Show, Dinosaurs, and has even guest starred on Bear in the Big Blue House. Sometimes, Dave Goelz has been paired with Steve Whitmire at times such as being the current performer of Waldorf and doing the duo until 2016. His latest puppetry works have included, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Muppets Now, Muppets Haunted Mansion, and The Muppets Mayhem. I just hope that he will find some other puppeteers to take his place when his time comes. Recently, Dave reprised the roles of Boober, Traveling Matt, and World's Oldest Fraggle on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. Goelz provided their voices while others (mostly Frank Meschkuleit) provided their puppetry. He currently holds the record for being the oldest Muppet performer to still perform. After all, he has been performing Muppets since 1973. Dave Goelz, you are one of the most stupendous Muppet performers since joining on the start of The Muppet Show. I hope that you continue to be a main Muppet performer until you decide to retire. You are also doing great on the Fraggle Rock reboot, even though it is only voices and being co-executive producer with Karen Prell. It's that time in life, that you become a legend to the world of puppeteers Dave. Great puppetry work Goelz!
