Michele Durler

Michele Durler was a British actress, writer, and puppeteer who was best known for her work on Playdays appearing on camera as Bisty Bob and performing the puppet Milly Sprocket. She performed alongside Nick Mercer who did Morris Cog as well as the Playdays puppeteers Sally Preisig, Ellie Darvill, and Sue Monroe. Michele also presented on Fun Song Factory, Rotten Ralph, and Sunnyside Up, and also wrote episodes of The Story Makers. I wonder how Durler voiced Milly Sprocket in scenes when she appeared as Bitsy Bob, though my best assumption would be through pre-recorded vocals or something. It's a pity she hasn't done any productions following The Story Makers, but at least she had the chance to puppeteer during select episodes of Playdays. She also worked with three Henson performers, apart from Preisig, including Katherine Smee and Michael Bayliss on a show called The Parkies. Michele Durler must have been interviewed for her work in children's television following her work on whatever show she last did on-screen work for. It must've been hard for her to puppeteer on Playdays as she had to lie on the floor for most of her time playing Milly Sprocket. The same would go for Nick Mercer doing Morris Cog, but he's more familiar with puppetry than she is otherwise. Sadly, Michele passed away in 2013, so Story Makers was probably her last production prior to her death, you never know. Durler will never be forgotten by those in the UK who grew up watching her performances on Playdays and other shows. I'm sure her co-workers still remember her to this day and there was even a fundraiser in honor of her death. That shows the generosity of people who loved her work. Michele Durler, you were a wonderful actress and pretty good at puppetry. I'm sure millions of adults, who've watched your projects on TV as kids, still remember you across the UK and maybe other countries, you never know. You've entertained everyone with all of the shows you did over the years. There'll always be a place in people's hearts for you Michele. Rest in peace and be forever jolly from above Durler!
