Andy Holmes

Andy Holmes is a puppeteer, writer, author, and illustrator who is best known for being the creator and performer of Gerbert. He was trained to puppeteer by Kermit Love who designed and built the puppet and also worked with other performers, including Nikki Tilroe. For the series Gerbert, Andy not only did the title character, but he also created the show and wrote all the episodes. Holmes' website says that he also performed lead roles in other children's video programs, though it's unknown which ones. Apart from puppetry, he is an incredible author since he's written (and often illustrated) over fifty books, it's something he should be proud of. Since Gerbert's creation in 1976, he has been used to help children and adults as well as entertain them, like in a pediatric program. It would appear that Andy Holmes not only knows how to keep children entertained, but he also finds ways to keep them healthy. Not every puppeteer has ever gone into medical areas. Like Steve Axtell, this person is religious as well, as seen in many of his books, though his website should be more secure so people will know the book titles and where to find them. Andy is famous for his works as well as performing Gerbert for years, which sums up to his website and how much good he did for children. Holmes appears to be another one of those puppeteers to be very religious since Gerbert references God, similar to The Donut Man videos. Let's hope that he is still using Gerbert to help and entertain children today. You never know when a puppet character like him will strike again. Andy Holmes, you've become a real role model for children and it's amazing how you've entertained people with puppetry and books. If you're still able to, keep on doing what you do best until you're ready to stop. If you do, the world will never forget you as Gerbert. A job well done for you Andy. The whole world (especially children) will always love you Holmes!
