Ruth Danziger
Ruth Danziger is a Canadian puppeteer and storyteller who is most well known for storytelling all over Canada. She was also the puppeteer of Annie on Mr. Dressup in the later years until 1996. Ruth may not have done any Muppet projects in Canada, but she has worked with Sesame Park performers such as Bob Dermer, Nina Keogh, Karen Valleau, and Jani Lauzon. Danziger also performed with Jim Parker who also hasn't done a project involving Muppets. Apart from puppetry, she did lots of storytelling for storytelling gatherings and festivals, not to mention facilitating workshops for community groups like Afrofest and Spiral Garden. She has even been an educator, working to develop curricula for primary school teachers and editing two story collections. Despite all of that, Ruth Danziger should have done at least one Canadian Muppet project or even assisted on Sesame Park when she had the chance. But she was probably more occupied with her storytelling career as well as performing on Mr. Dressup along with Ernie Coombs. I have read she now teaches Puppetry in Art Therapy at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. This shows that Ruth is still being a puppeteer today, as well as remembering how much fun she had on Mr. Dressup. It would appear that Danziger really knows how to make comfortable spaces for stories to come alive and have participants listening deeply to each other. With skills like that, she'd been perfect to work on a Henson Company project in the past. But you never know if she did perform on a project or if she ever will. Ruth Danziger, you've told some amazing stories over the years and you still are. You've also still got the skills to be a puppeteer since you teach it in therapy. Keep on doing lots of wonderful storytelling across Canada, as well as educating in art therapy. You're full of surprises Ruth. Until then, may you always have happy endings to your stories Danziger!
