Julian Hosking

Julian Hosking was a British ballet dancer with the Royal Ballet who made an appearance on Episode 318 of The Muppet Show in a full-body Muppet costume. Alongside both Graham Fletcher and Michael Coleman, he danced with Leslie Uggams in the "Hey There Good Times" number. Between 1971-1986, Julian has performed in several productions for the Royal Opera House (except for a hiatus.) Some of the performances Hosking did include Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and The Rite of Spring, all of which show how talented he is. I wonder if Fletcher was the one who invited Coleman & him to be in that one opening number on The Muppet Show. He seems to be more experienced at ballet dancing which must have earned him a chance to be one of the Mutations. It's a shame Julian Hosking passed away in 1989, he was a pro when it comes to dancing ballet. I hope his co-dancers stepped in to help keep his legacy going until they stepped down from performing with the Royal Ballet. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten by Royal Ballet as one of the greatest dancers. Julian may not have been a Muppet performer but still he danced in a full-body Muppet costume and that technically counts as a Muppet puppeteer. Hosking will never be forgotten by anyone, at least by his two friends anyway as far as I know. He puts the swan in Swan Lake, the Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and the spring in The Rite of Spring; meaning he's considered legendary for those performances. I hope he's watching ballet from up in heaven and I'll bet he is missing his friends. Julian Hosking, you were a wonderful dancer & you did a great job on The Muppet Show. Keep looking down from heaven cause you never know when there will be another ballet performance by the Royal Ballet. Farewell Julian. Rest in peace Hosking!
