Carsten Morar-Haffke
Carsten Morar-Haffke is a German puppeteer and writer who performs Pferd, Bert, and others on the German co-production of Sesame Street, Sesamstrasse. He was most notably paired with Martian Paas and together they both scripted the Pferd and Wolle sketches and on the 30th anniversary Sesamstrasse special. Carsten was also additional puppeteer on The Secret Life of Toys, along with Axel Rathgeber, Jurgen Tombers, and Marcus Hubner. Morar-Haffke has been doing Pferd since 2002 is probably lucky to be playing a horse on the series, since the name means "horse" in German. He has performed Bert on the show since 2006 while Martin Paas did Ernie and together they did new exclusive segments. He and Paas have also worked together outside of Sesamstrasse as seen in photos of live appearances operating many puppet characters. I'd say Carsten Morar-Haffke should be glad he decided to be a puppeteer for German television. He got to work alongside non-German puppeteers as well such as Muppet legends Jerry Nelson and Dave Goelz, as well as Louise Gold, Nigel Plaskitt, and Mike Quinn. As for German performers, he worked with many other than Paas like Iris Schleuss, Constanze Schmidt and more. I've read that Carsten was interviewed for a 2013 documentary focusing around both Sesame Street and its German co-production. I'll bet that Morar-Haffke was really excited since he was never interviewed for a documentary before; but how did he get understood for the interview? There was probably a translator or some subtitles so both American and German people can understand him. Carsten Morar-Haffke, you should be proud of being a regular on Sesamstrasse and for working with two Muppet legends. I hope you will remain on Sesamstrasse until the show ends. Until that day comes, never stop being Pferd and who knows, maybe they'll name a real horse after yourself. Right on Carsten. Peace out Morar-Haffke!
