Joe Selph

Joe Selph is a puppeteer who has worked in various Muppet projects throughout the 1990s. He mainly did background characters in Muppet*Vision 3D, Muppet Classic Theater, and Muppets Tonight. Joe has also assisted on Sesame Street's 30th anniversary special, Elmopalooza. Selph should have done his very own characters during his time with the Muppets. He has even puppeteered within the Creature Shop film, The Flintstones where he met Terri Hardin, Drew Massey, and Lisa Sturz as well as other performers. On a positive note, he got to meet Jim Henson on one of the Muppet projects mentioned above. It would appear that Joe Selph has a more successful puppetry career outside of the Muppets, performing in live shows as well as commercials, movies, and TV shows (ex. The Puzzle Place). He is also another one of those puppeteers who is great with marionettes. Others include Olga Felgemacher, Michael Earl, and Thomas Fountain, to name a few. Joe even worked with a performing partner for 22 years named Rene Zendejas. When Zendejas died in 2014, Selph continued to keep his legacy alive through performances known as Rene's Marionettes. He's probably still working with his company to this very day which makes me wonder if he ever misses his performances with the Muppets today. I think one of these days, he should travel to Disney and ask the producers if he can assist the Muppets for one more production. Joe Selph, you are another great performer who can work with puppets and marionettes like many other Muppet performers. Keep on making Rene Zendejas proud by continuing his legacy of marionette shows. And maybe someday, rejoin the Muppets and maybe assist or perform a character in their next project. I do not know when that will happen, but just keep your hopes up and you will do fine Joe. You give both puppets and marionettes a swell name Selph!
