Ian Tregonning is a puppeteer who performed in numerous Muppet and Creature Shop movies. For his job with the Muppets, he has assisted in The Muppets Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island, as well as the 1993 Royal Variety Performance, operating one of the Bossman. As for Creature Shop, Ian has worked in Labyrinth, Babe, and The Adventures of Pinocchio. Tregonning seems to do a lot more puppetry inside the Muppets and Creature Shop than outside. His only outside puppetry was seen in Little Shop of Horrors by Frank Oz and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (featuring characters from Warner Bros and Disney). For television, his only work can be seen on three shows Spitting Image, Quads, and Radio Roo. Ian Tregonning must have been very lucky to perform with many puppeteers such as Bruce Lanoil, Mike Quinn, and William Todd-Jones, to name a few. I wish that he would puppeteer more on other projects rather than special effects or design. He provided special effects for Zombie Brigade, Minor Head Injury, and Betrand the Terrible. Ian could have worked inside the Creature Shop creating special effects for puppets and creatures. But I guess Tregonning was more comfy performing rather than designing for the Muppets. I wonder if he had any difficulty operated the Bossman for the Royal Variety Performance as that character was almost humongous and heavy. Then again, he did operate complicated creatures for the Creature Shop movies. Ian Tregonning, I think you're a great puppeteer and very brave to do the giant Bossman for the Muppets appearance in that Royal Variety Performance appearance. I hope you keep doing work with puppets and maybe assist the Muppets again when there's a chance in your free time. It might not happen yet, but that day will come soon. Until then, remember how much you enjoyed working with Muppets and Creature Shop Ian. Excellent work Tregonning!
