Rhonda Hansome

Rhonda Hansome is a stand up comic and actress whose only work with the Muppets was as Vazh in the first Land of Gortch segment on Saturday Night Live. She didn't have any experience in puppetry so she performed the part for only one time before Fran Brill took over. Rhonda may have no puppeteering experience, but that doesn't mean she couldn't learn. Hansome has been trained to puppeteer with the Muppets by Jim Henson and Frank Oz prior to taping that sketch. Like her, lots of puppeteers have no puppetry experience for the first time, so they have to be trained in order to become the puppeteers they are today. At least she got to keep herself active in film and television. Rhonda Hansome appeared in small roles for a number of films, such as Pretty Woman. During the 1980's, she performed stand-up at various comedy clubs and still does so today. I wish she would have done more with the Muppets, but I guess she was happier doing comedy than puppetry. Although, Rhonda sounded like the perfect woman to perform with the Muppets because they both have one thing in common, and that's comedy. The one positive thing about Hansome's one-time performance is that she got to work with a couple legendary Muppet performers. She is still in the film world doing small roles for some films. Even so, she's still a funny person and should be proud to have done one sketch with Muppet performers. Rhonda Hansome, you may not have been experienced with puppeteering, but you still did a great job in that one Land of Gortch sketch. Just keep acting in films and performing stand-up comedy until you decide to quit. But I doubt that will happen for some time now. Keep on being funny Rhonda. Laugh it up Hansome!
