Ed Christie is a puppet designer/builder and puppeteer who worked with Sesame Street and Henson Associates since he had an internship back in 1978. In the early 1980's, Ed served as a performer for both the Muppets and Sesame Street. He performed a few characters on Sesame Street while he was an additional performer for The Muppet Show, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and two Sesame Street videos. Christie has spent years of learning Muppet design techniques and building classic characters before he was promoted to Muppet Supervisor in charge on Sesame Street. Christie later got another promotion to becoming Vice President/NY Muppet Workshop Supervisor, a very big promotion. He must have been the luckiest designer and builder to receive the job of being a supervisor. But in 2004, he left Henson and got contracted by Sesame Workshop where he's currently designing characters for the normal Sesame Street and Sesame Street International. All around the world, he has designed the Muppet characters for international co-productions of Sesame Street. Outside of his work on Sesame Street and Henson, Ed has designed, built, and performed in the 2007 production of Carnival! and has even worked in various Broadway productions like Doonesury and Peter Pan. Ed Christie has become very famous from all his time in the Muppet Workshop. But I wish he would work with the Muppets again, because the Workshop wouldn't be the same without Christie there supervising. He should also try puppeteering again, because he seemed to do a great job whether he's performing or assisting the character. Even so, Ed's still famous from working in the shop which has ended up winning him eight Emmy Awards for Sesame Street and many nominations for other projects. Ed Christie, whether you are puppeteering or building, you've made a super famous person out of yourself. Excellent work Ed!
