Ron Mueck is an Australian sculptor, puppeteer, and puppet builder who was recruited by Dave Goelz to come work with Henson. As a puppeteer he performed in a few Henson projects; his most notable ones were The Tale of Bunny Picnic (as Storyteller Bunny) and Labyrinth (as Ludo). On Fraggle Rock, Ron served as an assistant/alternate puppeteer for Uncle Traveling Matt when his postcards took place in Australia. Not only has Mueck performed, but he also worked with the Muppet design team at the NY Muppet Workshop and the Creature Shop in London. He designed several characters for a lot of different Henson projects such as Puppetman, Dreamchild, The Ghost of Faffner Hall, Mother Goose Stories, and The Storyteller. Outside of Henson, he has his own puppet workshop, where his company built the puppets for a show called Gophers. Ron Mueck also puppeteered on a children's show called Shirl's Neighborhood, where he performed various animals. He's now a successful hyper-realist sculptor in London creating works of art based on human form, made of silicone or polyester casts. It's amazing how years of puppeteering and puppet building can turn one man into a successful sculptor of art. But how does Ron get the materials to make all of those human sculptures? And did Mueck practice making sculptures from building puppets? Either way it works, he has made different types of art in his life by creating and performing. Other performers he worked with include Shari Weiser, David Barclay, and Brian Henson, just to name a few. Ron Mueck, you have made a true artist of yourself and I guess it's from working in the Creature Shop for many years. Keep up the fascinating artwork and maybe think about all of the puppet work you have done throughout your life. Think of your past career as a light to art history. Be who you are and go far Ron. I'm sure people enjoy seeing your artworks Mueck!
