Mike Petersen
Mike Petersen is a Canadian puppeteer, actor, writer, teacher, and director who performed on Fraggle Rock (as various characters) and Labyrinth (as a Goblin puppeteer). But why did he only puppeteer on those two projects created by the Henson Company? Mike could have worked on other shows involving the Muppets or be an additional puppeteer in the Sesame Street film Follow That Bird. Petersen must have been too busy to do any more projects featuring Muppet characters. But even though he didn't do a lot of shows involving the Muppets, he still puppeteers on numerous outside productions for both TV and theatre. His most notable television projects include The Mighty Jungle, Toopy and Binoo, and the recent show Miss Persona (as Brandon Bear). As for his theater work, Mike Petersen performed on lots of productions with the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia from 1984-1994, travelling around the world doing various puppet performances. His other theatre projects include Canadian productions of Little Shop of Horrors, As You Puppet, Good Old Fashioned Punch & Judy Show, and the recent one known as A Short History of Niagara (as writer, designer, builder, and performer). He even teaches puppetry to many students from many different theatres all across Canada. As for Mike's acting, he acted on Casino Jack, The Case for Christmas, and the Music & Truffles series for Mooredale Concerts, introducing kids to classical music. It would appear that Petersen has been more active outside of the Henson Company as he was with them, of course Fraggle Rock would've been his first show. His website shows that he has also been lending his voice for two PBS Kids series, Elinor Wonders Why and Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum. He'll probably continue working for television to this very day. Mike Petersen, you have impressed the world with your puppetry, acting, and teaching. Keep on working for television and theatre until you're ready to throw in the towel. And always remember how Fraggle Rock put you into the world of puppetry. Excellent performance and teaching Mike. You're so mighty Petersen!
