Rickey Boyd

Rickey Boyd is a puppeteer, animator, and writer who worked on several productions involving both the Muppets and Sesame Street. Perhaps his most earliest credit with The Jim Henson Company was in a Play-Along Video that was called Sing-Along, Dance-Along, Do-Along. Rickey continued to work with the Muppets on The Jim Henson Hour, The Muppets at Walt Disney World, Muppet*Vision 3D, and The Muppets Wizard of Oz. Boyd has also performed in various Creature Shop projects, such as the TMNT films and on the last two seasons of Dinosaurs. But his most notable character roles was on Big Bag (as Bag and Argyle) and Animal Jam (as Waffle the Cow-Monkey), both taped in Florida. As for his work on Sesame Street, he did many characters on the series itself and in home videos, most notably Sesame Beginnings series as Cookie Monster's Grandma. Apart from puppetry, Rickey Boyd serves as the creative director for Magnetic Dreams Animation Studio. In a relationship with Kevin Clash, he was able to connect the studio with Sesame Street, and produce various inserts (ex. Twiddlebugs segments), sequences, and digital effects for the show. Is it me, or does it seem that he would rather animate than puppeteer? Thanks to Rickey, not only is Sesame Street becoming more digital, but the show also sticks to traditional puppetry too. It's almost like Boyd could make puppetry and animation interact with each other on that popular show for years. I would say he is a genius at making CGI, let's just hope he will continue doing it for the future since Sesame Street keeps going on and branching out to other forms of entertainment and such. Rickey Boyd, I hope that you keep working on Sesame Street within Magnetic Dreams. Your friends such as Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, Jeff Conover, and Joey Mazzarino must be proud of you, since you've been paired with them for years. Keep up the great work and sooner or later, you might be doing other shows that involve your animation. Well done Rickey. Peace out Boyd!
