Stephanie D'Abruzzo

Stephanie D'Abruzzo is a puppeteer, voice actress, writer, and singer who is best known for working on Sesame Street since 1993. She started out on Sesame Street as background/one-shot characters before gaining more major characters such as Elizabeth, Lulu, and Curly Bear. Stephanie's best known Henson show was on The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss as various characters for both seasons. D'Abruzzo has also occasionally worked with the Muppets on a few Today appearances, A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa, a Mastercard commercial, and The Muppets Mayhem. I've read that David Rudman was the first puppeteer she came in contact with. Outside of Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss, she performed on a variety of shows such as The Puzzle Place, Oobi, Binyah Binyah, and Jack's Big Music Show, to name a few. As a voice actress, Stephanie D'Abruzzo has also voiced animated characters in Sesame Street segments and her voice can be heard in The Book of Pooh and Sheep in the Big City. She even acted for theatre, most notably on Avenue Q with John Tartaglia, Rick Lyon, and Jennifer Barnhart. There are so many other theater roles she did, that even I can't keep track. Beginning with the 46th season of Sesame Street, Stephanie took over the role of Prairie Dawn from Fran Brill and is still performing her. Outside, D'Abruzzo recently did Helpsters and Donkey Hodie, puppeteering and writing for both. There just isn't anything she can't do. In addition to Prairie, she is also the current performer of Elmo's mom Mae since the show's 49th season. Stephanie D'Abruzzo, you must be the queen of acting and puppeteering. I have never seen one woman perform over 200 characters for all those shows. Keep performing Prairie Dawn on Sesame Street and doing other shows too. Don't stop Stephanie. You're spectacular D'Abruzzo!
