Kathryn Mullen
Kathryn Mullen is a puppeteer, writer, producer, and director who is best known for puppeteering since 1978. Her first job with the Muppets was on The Muppet Movie before performing episodic characters on The Muppet Show. Kathryn also played various characters on Sesame Street in Seasons 10-16 and 22-24, not to mention in their first film Follow That Bird. But Mullen's most recognizable work was working on Fraggle Rock as Mokey Fraggle, Cotterpin Doozer, and others. For the Creature Shop, she puppeteered on The Dark Crystal (the heroine) and Labyrinth. Her time with the Muppets went on in the late 1980s and 1990s with The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, performing various characters in the first season and serving as a director in the second season. Outside of Fraggle Rock and the Muppets, Kathryn Mullen performed on lots of other projects such as The Empire Strikes Back (assisting Frank Oz), Allegra's Window, and Between the Lions (in which she co-created, performed Leona and others, wrote, and directed). I read that she is also the co-founder of No Strings Productions, a company that made so much that even I cannot keep track of. Why did she leave Between the Lions after the second season? Kathryn is also married to former Muppet designer Michael K. Frith who also created Between the Lions. Mullen was often paired with other performers like Anthony Asbury, Karen Prell, and John Kennedy, to name a few. I hope she is still running No Strings Productions today, either that or she's currently retired alongside her husband. If so, she did a wonderful job with puppets. Kathryn Mullen, you're a pro at puppeteering and excellent at writing and directing. I'm sure Jim Henson is very proud of you at what you're doing. Your two Fraggle characters are safe with Donna Kimball now since you've stepped down from performing. Excellent job Kathryn. You're a wild one Mullen!
