Karen Prell
Karen Prell is a puppeteer, writer, and animator who is known for performing with the Muppets since 1979. She started out playing small roles on The Muppet Show during its last season. Karen also played a bunch of characters on Sesame Street for seasons 11, 12, and 50. But Prell's best known work was on Fraggle Rock as Red Fraggle and others, which was her biggest accomplishment. Her film work placed her in Labyrinth, The Muppets Christmas Carol, and The Muppets (2011), to name a few. I read that she also met her temporary husband Mike Quinn while doing one of the films. Karen Prell's other Henson shows include The Ghost of Faffner Hall, Mother Goose Stories, and The Animal Show (Season 1) as various characters. Outside of Henson, she co-founded a puppet company called Ultimate Animates Productions where she wrote and performed on shows like Great Bong and The Slow Norris. She is also an animator for several Pixar productions such as A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2, not to mention Disney's Enchanted and work for Tippett Studio. Karen must have be one of those lucky people to animate films by Disney. In recent years, Prell reprised the role of Red for Fraggle Rock: Rock On and Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, as well as playing Icy Joe and others on the latter. She's also one of the co-executive producers for the latter with the other being Dave Goelz. To be honest, I think she is fantastic at both puppeteering and animating. Karen Prell, you sure do know how to bring excitement to puppets for the Muppets and other Henson shows. I heard that you're currently an animator at Valve Corporation which you must've been experienced based on your animated credits. Keep up the great work there and with Fraggle Rock. As Red Fraggle, you're irreplaceable Karen. Amazing work Prell!
