Anthony Asbury
Anthony Asbury is a puppeteer, actor, and director who has worked in many Henson Company projects starting with 1986. He puppeteered on the Creature Shop films Labyrinth and The Witches where he got to work under the direction of Jim Henson. Anthony's best known Henson show was on The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, performing various characters and directing an episode. Asbury could have worked with the Muppets or Sesame Street, but I guess he had his own dreams. Outside of Henson, he has done various other projects such as Allegra's Window, Spitting Image, Little Shop of Horrors, and Between the Lions (where he performed Lionel and others, acted on-screen, and directed segments). He has also performed for theater as well, in shows like The Haggadah and the Broadway version of Little Shop of Horrors. In the film version, Anthony Asbury got to work under the direction of Frank Oz too. He has often been paired with other performers like Kathryn Mullen, Martin P. Robinson, and Louise Gold, to name a few. His latest Henson Company project was Stuffed and Unstrung, the Henson Alternative improv production. I just hope that Anthony is still working with puppets today. How come Asbury left Between the Lions after the eighth season? I've read that he's still with the touring company of Little Shop of Horrors. He was last seen in a podcast interview in the recent years. Anthony Asbury, you are an incredible puppeteer and not so bad at directing. From children to adult shows, you did them all for a good reason. If you're still working in the theater today, keep at it and always remember how much fun you had working with children for many years. Excellent performance Anthony. Rock on Asbury!
