Philip Tan

Philip Tan is an actor, stuntman, and occasional suit performer who performed one of the gorillas in the Creature Shop-effects film George of the Jungle. Since the 1980s, he has acted in numerous films and a few television series, with his feature film debut in The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu. Philip later did a walk-on on Doctor Who and henchman roles in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Return to Oz, and Batman. Tan's first gorilla suit performance was in Greystoke which led to Congo and Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton version). While on Return to Oz, he got perform alongside several other puppeteers & suit performers like Mak Wilson, Timothy D. Rose, Swee Lim, Peter Elliott, and even Brian Henson himself. It's a shame though that he never did any other productions by the Creature Shop since they've done numerous effect films over the years, he was probably not that interested. Other films Philip Tan acted on include China Cry, Lethal Weapon 4, Big Momma's House, and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. As for his stunt credits, he is best known for doubling Ken Jeong in The Hangover and its sequels, with the other ones being Willow, National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1, and Pirates of the Caribbean (the 2nd and 3rd movies to be exact). He seems to be another performer to be an expert at stunts since he's done so much wonderful films that had some dangerous scenes throughout. I do wish though that Philip will do a future Creature Shop production, you never know when they will make a film involving dangerous stunts for him to do. I wonder if Tan still remembers the people he worked with on Return to Oz, as well as George of the Jungle. He's still acting and doing stunts for films today, including 7 upcoming ones, as seen on IMDb that they're all in the pre-production process. There just isn't anything he cannot do which involves dangerous stunts and incredible acting roles. Philip Tan, you're a wonderful actor and stuntman as well. Keep being in contact with the performers from Return to Oz and other films you did. I'm sure you'll get to be in another Creature Shop film soon. Until then, live it up Philip. Sick moves Tan!
