Dave Thompson

Dave Thompson is a British actor, suit performer, comedian, and writer who is best known for being the 1st performer of Tinky Winky on Teletubbies (original). However, he only did the suit performance for the first season as Simon Shelton took over the role for the rest of the series. Dave also did not do the voice of Tinky Winky, Mark Heenehan actually voiced the character for the whole series while he and later Shelton did the body movements. Thompson has been paired with John Simmit, Nikky Smedley, Pui Fan Lee, and Mark Dean while doing Teletubbies, though it must have been hard to be in a costume with a special head on-location. Pity he never did a British project featuring Muppets, he would be great to be one of the full-bodied Muppet monsters. Besides Teletubbies, he has acted on-screen for a whole variety of television shows and feature films as well, though uncredited for the latter. Dave Thompson did Time Gentleman Please, TV Burp, and The Sketch Show for TV (also wrote for the latter two). For film, he was mostly uncredited for the roles he did, like The Bourne Identity, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Rocketman, to name a few. This shows that he acted more for adults than for children, probably the reason being that he got tired of doing Teletubbies after one season. Maybe someday, Dave will meet a Muppet performer somewhere in the UK, like Robin Stevens, who puppeteered on the Creature Shop film Labyrinth years ago. In addition to acting and writing, Thompson also did comedy across the UK and who knows, maybe across the world as well. Though him meeting a Muppet performer might never happen in his career, but you never know when someone will want him to act or write for them. Other than that, he still acts and does comedy fine. Dave Thompson, you entertained children on Teletubbies, and you've amused adults with your acting, writing, and comedic skills for years. Keep on being funny just as long as you remember how Teletubbies made you a star. I'm sure with those skills, someone from the Muppets will learn about you and interview you. Keep performing Dave.
