Carol Sterling

Carol Sterling is a puppeteer, arts educator, and teaching artist whose been an advocate of arts education for over 50 years. She also does educational puppetry helping teachers and students, and integrating the art of puppetry for kids from grades Pre-K to 12. The way Carol does puppetry is sort of similar to the performers of Sesame Street, only she teaches puppetry to people of all ages. Also the puppets Sterling makes are also made of simple materials rather than fabric used for Muppets with mechanisms for lots of them. As someone who does education, she conducted puppet workshops all around the world from India to Uganda to the US. Other puppeteers have been teachers like her include Ruth Danziger, Brad Williams, Michael Yuro, and Sally McCormack, to name a few. Besides puppetry, Carol Sterling does teaching arts in many schools as well as being Director of Educations in many areas. I'll bet students of all ages appreciate being educated by her since she is an advocate for arts education in all forms. She has also been interviewed on the podcast Under the Puppet for her career, which I must say is one of the big accomplishments for a teacher. Carol is still an advocate of arts education today as seen in lectures, conferences, publications, and performances, to name a few. Sterling must have a busy schedule since she teaches many forms of art for educational purposes to both kids and adults. And technically she met a Muppet performer since Under the Puppet is hosted by Grant Baciocco. Hopefully her education will influence other puppeteers to pitch in and give education of puppetry for many people. You never know when a someone like her will make an impact. Carol Sterling, you're a wonderful puppeteer and teacher since you've been an advocate of arts education for many years. Maybe you will meet another Muppet performer someday and share how much art you brought to the world. Until then, keep on being one fine advocate of arts education. You're a real role model Carol. Top of the class for you Sterling!
