John Nolan

John Nolan is a Canadian puppeteer who only performed within the Sesame Park special Basil Hears a Noise, alongside his wife Kathy MacLellan. The pair have been performing together since they've both founded Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre. John has also puppeteered on Under the Umbrella Tree and Crazy Quilt (as Jackson) both of which his wife was a writer and puppeteer. Nolan should've worked on other Sesame or Henson stuff filmed in Canada like Follow That Bird or Brats of the Lost Nebula. Perhaps he was much too busy at his company to do so. At Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre, he has alternated between narrating and puppeteering bunraku style for many shows both past and present. In the past, John Nolan did MacBeth, A Bauchan in the Family, The Story of Holly and Ivy, The Snow Queen, and more. As for the current years, he now does The Nightingale, The Dolls' House, and Zoom at Sea, as well as others in the works. Apart from his wife, other puppeteers he worked with have included Noreen Young, Bob Stutt, Stephen Brathwaite, and Bruce Hunter, to name a few. John appears to be well known for running Rag & Bone with his wife because they've done performances all across Canada. Nolan should meet up with some of the performers he met over the years and maybe catch up. You never know when someone will run into another puppeteer they've worked with in the past. The puppeteer couple are still making shows today and probably will for the future. John Nolan, even though you only did one Sesame Park special, you still did well on that. Keep working with Kathy MacLellan at Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre because your bunraku style puppetry is great. But I doubt that will ever happen for a long while. Until then, always remember the performers you met John. You're a Canadian natural Nolan!
