Peter MacKennan
Peter MacKennan is a puppet builder and puppeteer who has worked with the Muppets on numerous projects since 1987. On Sesame Street, not only did he build puppets from seasons 19-25, but he also served as an assistant puppeteer for several segments and on the 25th Anniversary special. Peter also puppeteered for the Muppets on Muppet Studios Presents: You're the Director, Free to Be... a Family, and the Jim Henson tribute special in 1990. MacKennan has mainly built puppet characters for many series, specials, and feature films such as Muppet Treasure Island (building Clueless Morgan). I read that in the Muppet Workshop he was a Senior Puppet Designer from 1987-1995 and later served as a Creative Director in the Global Products Division of Sesame Workshop from 1998-2005. Currently, he is a designer and Senior Artist for Puppet Heap, the company responsible for currently designing and building the Muppets. Peter MacKennan is also an artist according to his website and made numerous paintings shown on his website and at his home studios in New York. His bio states that he also worked at HIT Entertainment from 2005-2006, where he helped develop products by the company. It's a shame he was never credited on Sesame Street itself for puppeteering. Peter got to perform with Paul Hartis, Mark Zeszotek, and Barry Link in several segments while also co-working with them in the Muppet Workshop during his time on Sesame Street. MacKennan is probably pretty lucky to do art of many kinds throughout his life; the art of painting and the art of puppetry. He'll probably continue to work with the Muppets within Puppet Heap today. His latest projects with them was being a wrangler during their live appearances in at the Hollywood Bowl and O2 Arena. Peter MacKennan, you are wonderful when it comes to building and performing puppets. Keep doing puppets and artwork and you'll really become a legend. You never know. Keep working Peter. Look forward to the future MacKennan!
