Nick Powell
Nick Powell is a champion swordsman and stunt performer who is known for training many Hollywood actors such as Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson. He served as stunt coordinator for Muppet Treasure Island and did the right hand of Kermit the Frog (in his Smollett character) during his swordfight scene. Nick has to be lucky to assist Steve Whitmire with the battle scene of the film. Powell has done many other stunt performances, as seen in Batman, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Judge Dredd. As for stunt coordinator or swordsmaster credits, his projects include Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Braveheart, and 28 Days Later, just to name a few. He also served as a second unit director for several feature films, not to mention TV movies. It's a shame that Nick Powell only coordinated stunts for one project featuring the Muppets, since they don't usually do a lot of stunts. Other stunt performers that did Creature Shop or Henson projects include Kenn Troum, Ernie Reyes Jr, David Forman, and Ian Kay, all of which did stunts for Creature Shop's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it's sequel. He's probably the only guy who has been a swordsman for a Muppet project as well as the only one to do it with a puppet. Nick is still coordinating and performing stunts today, in fact, he's been doing stunts since 1987. Powell is going to be providing/directing stunts for three future films, according to IMDb and they'll probably be released very soon. He's probably the best stunt performer and coordinator in all of America, who knows, maybe even in the whole world. I'm very glad he's got a page on the Muppet Wiki, since he technically tried 1 puppet assist within Muppet Treasure Island, and let's hope he'll do it again. Nick Powell, you're swell when it comes to stunts and awesome at being a swordsman. Keep up the stunt business for films and perhaps you'll get you're own Hollywood star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You never know when that chance will happen to you. Amazing stunt and sword work Nick. You're a real master Powell!
