Vincent Ortola
Vincent Ortola is a Spanish puppeteer who mainly played Gaspar within the Spanish co-production of Sesame Street, Barrio Sesamo from 1996-2000. I don't know why his character didn't receive popularity like all of the other past characters. Vincent could have done other Spanish Muppets on Barrio Sesamo, but he was probably happier performing one character for 4 years. Ortola has also puppeteered on many other Spanish television series such as Pol & Cia and Los Lunnis, and that's only two. He also worked with Black Theater of Prague and with Chinese and Turkish shadows. He seems to be another puppeteer to work with shadows for theater. Vincent Ortola isn't the only one, others have included Jon Ludwig, Sue Dacre, Matthew Brooks, and Melissa Creighton. It's a shame that Barrio Sesamo didn't find Gaspar very popular along with the other characters he interacted with. He seemed to be the only known man to perform a character. Other than Vincent, most of the characters had unknown performers. Ortola must be continuing to work with Black Theater of Prague or doing Chinese and Turkish shadows for live. It would help him continue to remain active with puppetry. I hope that he'll perform in another Spanish show featuring puppetry. Vincent Ortola, keep on working for theater and maybe someday get back to working on TV. I'm sorry that you're character wasn't popular during your time on Barrio Sesamo. Time will pass by and pretty soon you'll have a popular puppet character. You just got to keep your hopes up and your chance to return to television will come Vincent. Keep up the great theater puppetry Ortola!
