Martin Anthony

Martin Anthony is a British puppeteer and actor who was one of the puppeteers for the Ultragorgon in the Jim Henson Hour special, Monster Maker. I don't know why he hasn't performed in other projects that featured puppets and/or creatures created by the Creature Shop. Martin first received his interest in puppetry in the West End production of Little Shop of Horrors from understudy to performer of Audrey II. Anthony is probably best at performing giant, complicated puppets. He ended up in the film version of Little Shop of Horrors for the ending. Not only did Martin Anthony got to work under the direction of Frank Oz, but he also met Brian Henson and was brought to the Creature Shop. In addition to Brian, he also worked alongside Michael Bayliss, Sue Dacre, David Greenaway, Marcus Clarke, and two more puppeteers while operating the Ultragorgon. Martin's last known puppetry work was in advertisements for Birds Eye, where he was in an incredibly heavy Dinosaur Animatronic. Anthony must have been so hot in that suit. He then returned to his first love of acting, playing leading roles in various Shakespeare Productions, other tours, and TV. I can understand why he would want to act rather than puppeteer, he's only performed giant puppets with great difficulty. Martin Anthony, I hope you're doing okay after you stopped doing puppetry. It wasn't easy but you've managed to pull through all that hard work. Keep on acting for stage and you'll thank Little Shop of Horrors for that Martin. Take time to relax Anthony!
