Sarai Tzuriel
Sarai Tzuriel is a Northern Israel actress and singer who has performed the full-bodied Kippi Ben Kippod on the two Israel co-productions of Sesame Street, Rechov Sumsum and Shalom Sesame. For the Hebrew dub of the latter, she has also re-voiced Mary Tyler Moore and Joan Rivers. Tzuriel has also appeared on-screen as the VJ for a recurring "Rechov Video" segments during season one of the show in the latter. Her character Kippi has made a guest appearance in the Sesame Street special, Sesame Street Stays Up Late. I wonder why Sarai only performed a full-body character and not hand puppet characters. It was probably a more comfortable for her to show her whole body on-screen and not under a puppet. Tzuriel has also spent her military service in an Army musical ensemble, as I have read. As for her singing career, in 1985, she's released a children's CD called Infant Songs from A to Z. One year later, Sarai appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest performing a song with Moti Giladi both representing Israel. Did the song competition take place before Rechov Sumsum or during that show? She seems to be more interested in singing rather than acting and puppeteering. But then again, there were probably a lot of people that worked for Sesame Street and its international co-productions that were more interesting in singing than puppeteering. Sarai Tzuriel is probably still performing songs today. I don't know where she is now, but I hope she is staying at home so she can remain healthy and act or sing for television or more. Sarai Tzuriel, you have done a terrific job performing Kippi Ben Kippod for those the Israel and Hebrew Sesame Street shows. I wonder if working on those shows made you what you are today, an actress and singer. Keep on acting and singing and you'll be remembered by the people you worked with, like legend Caroll Spinney. You are all Israel to me Sarai!
