Simon Buckley

Simon Buckley is a British puppeteer and marionette performer who has worked on several Creature Shop and Muppet productions over the years. His work with the Muppets include Muppet Treasure Island, The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Tale of the Bunny Picnic. Simon's Creature Shop projects have included Labyrinth, Lost in Space, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and The Bear. It's great how Buckley performed with both the Muppets and the Creature Shop, and it's especially great that he served as a principal puppeteer's stand in. His outside work is more vast with performances on many British television shows and theatrical productions. His best known character was Nobby the Sheep from Gimmie 5 while other shows include Spitting Image, Fimbles, The Spooks of Bottle Bay, Round the Bend, and many more. Simon Buckley's latest Muppet project was on Muppets Most Wanted as an uncredited assistant. I read that he traveled the world performing in ten different productions over three years from the UK to France to Hong Kong. He did nearly 1,000 performances using rod puppets, hand puppets, marionettes, masks, dance, and mime, all of which are impressive in my opinion. Perhaps in the future, Simon will get to assist the Muppet performers again and tell them all about his adventures around the world. You never know when Buckley will do that or if he ever will. Other performers he worked with over the years include Judy Preece, Phil Eason, Heather Tobias, and Alistair Fullarton, to name a few. No matter what production he's performed on, Nobby the Sheep will always be his best known character, he's even performed the sheep on a special game show. Simon Buckley, you've done great with the Muppets/Creature Shop and you've really made Nobby into a star. Keep on performing puppets when you can. And also think about how much laughter you've brought into the world. That's what I call real talent Simon. Nothing will ever change that about you Buckley!
