Kay Bradshaw

Kay Bradshaw (also known as Kaefan Shaw) is a British puppeteer, suit performer, and writer who did many Muppet and Creature Shop projects. She puppeteered Firey 4 on Labyrinth (with Steve Whitmire and Cheryl Henson), did Bark Troll on The Neverending Story III, and was the suit performer for both the Sugar Puffs ads and The Country Bears film. Kay was also an additional Muppet performer for The Tale of the Bunny Picnic and The Muppets Christmas Carol (assisting the main characters). Bradshaw even did the French version of Fraggle Rock assisting Mike Quinn on Croquette. From 1984-1988, she has been credited as a male (Kevin Bradshaw) though it's unknown why she was credited by that name during those years. Outside of the Creature Shop, she was both principal puppeteer and sketch writer on Spitting Image for 16 series, even the pilot. Other projects Kay Bradshaw performed and wrote for have included Round the Bend, Panic Station, several computer games, and Hoyle Classic Games. Later in her career, she wrote, directed, and performed in many educational theatres and schools. Other people she performed with over the years have included Richard Coombs, Alistair Fullarton, Phil Eason, and Rob Tygner, to name a few. Kay even wrote a play herself entitled The King's New Clothes (it must be a parody of the famous story The Emperor's New Clothes). Bradshaw is now a freelance writer, actress, director, and editor based in Sweden, which must be very peaceful yet busy for her. I wonder if she still remembers the Creature Shop and the Muppets since she hasn't worked with either company since 2002 with The Country Bears. As long as she's still keeping herself occupied, that's all that matters, plus you never know when she'll puppeteer again. Kay Bradshaw, you've done so well with the Creature Shop as well as Spitting Image since you did the latter for almost the whole series. Keep on running and acting on shows and you'll be recognized. It wasn't fair that you were credited as a male within the mid-1980s when you're actually a female. Be proud of who you truly are Kay. Fantastic work Bradshaw!
