Richard Coombs

Richard Coombs is a British puppeteer who worked on several Muppet & Creature Shop projects. His most notable work was on The Ghost of Faffner Hall as different guest characters. Richard also did The Tale of the Bunny Picnic, Play with Me Sesame UK (as Domby), and Muppets Most Wanted. Coombs mainly performed with the Creature Shop on Labyrinth, The Storyteller, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and more. Outside of the Creature Shop and Muppets, he is a professional performer of the two famous puppets, Punch and Judy as seen in many performances. His other puppetry work can be seen on Spitting Image, Spooks of Bottle Bay, Sooty, and Mongrels, to name a few. Does Richard Coombs find glove puppets easier to operate Muppet-type puppets? He even got to perform in some of the Star Wars films, like The Rise of Skywalker. His latest Creature Shop project was on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance as one of the many additional puppeteers. Other puppeteers Richard worked with include Angie Passmore, Andy Heath, Iestyn Evans, Susan Beattie, and more. If Coombs is still puppeteering today, he should continue doing Punch and Judy as well as other films and series. From glove puppets to animatronic puppets, he has been able to perform all types, except for marionettes, I think. Doing the Creature Shop must be what he is known for when working with the Henson Company on both series and films since he did it more than Muppets. Richard Coombs, you were great on The Ghost of Faffner Hall, Play with Me Sesame UK, and all of those Creature Shop projects. I hope you keep puppeteering and maybe consider assisting the Muppets again, whenever they film something in the UK. Keep doing Punch and Judy too, it's your profession. Until then, keep it up Richard. You're a smash hit Coombs!
