Brian Muehl
Brian Muehl is a puppeteer and writer who is best known for his puppetry work with the Muppets and Sesame Street. On Sesame Street, he performed various characters for five years, including the second Telly Monster and Barkley. Brian was also the first performer for Elmo and Grundgetta before he left in 1984. For the Muppets, Muehl has performed on the last season of The Muppet Show, Muppet Meeting Films, and The Jim Henson Hour. He also performed in two films, The Dark Crystal (as a Skeksis and two Mystics) and The Muppets Take Manhattan. He made sporadic returns to Sesame Street for Big Bird in Japan, and in Seasons 25, 26, and 28 and also performed on the Henson shows, Dog City and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. Brian Muehl's work outside of Muppets and Sesame Street has transitioned from puppeteering to writing scripts for various shows. He puppeteered on Eureeka's Castle (he also wrote), MATHmatazz, and Between the Lions. As for writing, he wrote for Cyberchase, The Magic School Bus, Out of the Box, and Codename: Kids Next Door. Does Brian like writing for shows better than puppeteering on shows or vice-versa? I didn't know this, but I've read that Muehl started out as a member of an experimental troupe called the Mummenschanz. Other puppeteers he worked with include Pam Arciero, Lisa Buckley, and Cheryl Blaylock, to name a few. He is currently the author of a couple of books he wrote himself and is probably still writing books to this day. Brian Muehl, you've been a puppeteer, a mime, a writer, and an author. I am very amazed by what you have done in your life. May you always be remembered. Never forget Sesame Street Brian. Keep on writing Muehl!
